Jabeur missed a golden chance to break Swiatek at 4-4 with the Polish star going on to win the set and match via a tie-break. Swiatek responded perfectly to the set-back, however, as they continued to exchange breaks in a see-sawing second set. The star from Tunisia wasn’t going down without a fight though as she broke back and clawed her way to 2-3. The second set picked up where the first left off as Swiatek broke Jabeur early and raced out to a 3-0 lead. While Jabeur would break back, Swiatek broke the Tunisian two more times to wrap up the first set in just 30 minutes. The world number one started the match in fine form and won 12 of the first 14 points as she broke Jabeur early.
